Hey, Ladies! It's Time to Spring Clean your Base Regimen!
As the renewed days of spring and the steamy days of summer approach us we’re all BEYOND ready to free ourselves from those winter layers; this definitely also includes the layers on our face! If you’re like me, then one of the first things you can’t wait to ditch are the heavy concealers and foundations. I always feel as if I have to start using more of them as the summer time glow fades. Then comes that first warm, sunny day. You step outside mid afternoon or get into that hot car when suddenly it hits you…it feels as if the heat is baking your makeup right into each pore like a batch of cupcakes in their tins at 525 degrees! I don’t know about you, but when I get that feeling I want to drop everything and make a 911 call to my esthetician and see her immediately for a deep cleanse! It’s for that reason; I am always on a search to see what can be a better option. My solution: tinted moisturizers!
Although they will not be a replacement for the places where we need that dot of concealer or under eye correction, I have found that tinted moisturizers, on a day-to-day basis, solve this dilemma for me! They provide a light veil of pigment that evens your skin tone and creates a great, starting foundation for most make up applications. In addition, they are the perfect light moisturizer that should always be applied prior to starting any makeup application. In conjunction with a little bit of a medium to full coverage powder your base is set for the summer time heat! Some options that I personally love and use are Dermalogica’s line of tinted moisturizers. They come in a light, medium, and dark formula. [Also, an untinted version, if desired]. They have an SPF of 15, which is a must even for those grey days. However, if you’re in a sunny climate I suggest using a higher daily SPF underneath. You can purchase this product for $43.00 at buy.dermalogica.com. The other product, [which is currently my new fav] is Bobbi Brown’s Tinted Moisturizing Balm. It has an SPF of 25 and has several more tint options to choose from. Also, if you have drier or more mature skin this will provide you with a bit more moisture. This product can be purchased for $50.00 at barneys.com or any other Bobbi Brown carrier in your area.
Tinted moisturizers have been a favorite and a go to of mine for several years now. I apply them every single day, even if I’m going to the beach or pool because I love the overall tonality coverage, SPF benefits, and light moisture that they offer. So, this summer give one of these products a try. I promise you’ll be in love!
Xo,
J.

New Nail Appliqués
Let's face it, when you're into hair, makeup, clothes, and jewelry; getting it all together can be exhausting! Even if you're not entirely into that, you're still making all of these choices regardless of how much thought goes into it. First comes choosing the right outfit. Next, deciding on the best hair style and makeup choices. THEN, matching the perfect bag, shoes, and jewelry with all of that (Make sure the metal on your belt, bags, zippers, etc. matches all that jewelry too, ladies)! If you're a mother, then you're trying to do all of that AND choose the majority of those things for all of your children. Sometimes those husbands too! Oh, and by the way, it all has to be done by 7am. Phew! On top of all of that, we want to make sure our nails are looking good. Nothing is more of an epic fail than your nails being a disaster when everything else is on point! On the other hand, who really has the twenty minutes of drying time in or out of the salon? I know I struggle with this dilemma all the time! I usually am thinking that it's "good enough" on the dry time only to find out that in two minutes I've already nicked the polish even though I'm making a conscience effort not to. [Insert cursing under your breath now] Well, with technology, that may be coming to an end!
As you may know, the nail industry is in a shift over the way things are done. Such things like Shellac, which basically is polish that turns into armor on your nails and requires a UV light to dry the product, is taking over. Recently nail appliqués, or sticker designs, for the nails are becoming more and more popular. Minx is an amazing version of this and is definitely at the top of my list in this category. However, if you can't make it to the salon or find a Minx Certified Professional in your area, then you may want to check out this other option I found. I was recently reading an article on Italy's Cosmoprof Bologna Trade Show, known as the largest beauty event in the world, and I came across a product called Incoco. They are a company that makes self-stick 100% nail polish strips. They claim that it will last up to 14 days. I often can't get more than a couple of days out of a polish manicure, so I'm excited for nail appliqués like this! I hope they're everything they claim to be. I recently put an order in for this particular product so I can test it out for myself. Maybe this will make one less thing for us to do so often! Stay tuned for the results!

Your clutch summer time item that must never leave your side!
All of us already love Burt's Bees' lip balms and now they have a tinted lip balm line! It's perfect for tossing in your beach bag or in your purse. I take them everywhere with me and make a conscious effort to continuously apply. The tint I personally love is called Honeysuckle. It has just the right amount of nude and pink hues for that summer time sun kissed glow on your lips! Plus, it's all natural!

Exciting News!!
In the last several months I have been able to test out several different hair color lines. I have discovered that some are great for reds, some are great for brunettes, but maybe not so great for the other types. That has turned out to be a GREAT discovery for some of my clients! It takes the individual formula that I am creating to a whole new level! Since my last Pittsburgh visit I found an AMAZING beauty store here in Miami that carries ALL of my favorite hair care product lines! I'm so excited to get back and share my discoveries! I will be finalizing my travel days today, so I'll be in touch soon!
